Irish Hospitality Group, the folks behind the now-defunct de Vere’s Irish Pub, have opened a grill-your-own-steak restaurant and cocktail bar called The Butterscotch Den in Oak Park.
Irish Hospitality took over the space formerly occupied by Arthur Henry’s Supper Club. They kept Arthur Henry’s grill-your-own steak concept and gave the space a ’70s-inspired redesign. The menu features a range of steaks, from a $10 top sirloin to a $34 filet or rib-eye. Diners season and cook the steaks themselves on a large indoor grill in the center of the restaurant. They can also grill their own burger, meat or veggie skewer, portobello mushroom or prawns.

Butterscotch Den will have late-night dining and bar hours, with the grill staying hot until 1 a.m. and the cocktail menu offered until 2 a.m. The owners say they plan to offer live entertainment as well, with a stage and a baby grand piano.
Irish Hospitality also owns The Snug cocktail bar and Ro Sham Beaux, a natural wine bar. The group closed its two de Vere’s pubs during the pandemic. The Butterscotch Den is at 3406 Broadway. It’s open seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
