Florida’s GOP-controlled Legislature on Tuesday filed bills to ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.
The proposal allows for exceptions to save a patient’s life or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. The legislation, if approved, further restricts abortion in Florida, which last year outlawed abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy without exceptions for rape or incest.
Lawmakers filed the bills just minutes before Gov. Ron DeSantis delivered his annual state of the state address.
